Here's a thing.
For some reason, listening to JS Bach (the three violin concertos today) unlocks my own compositional brain.
My music isn't Baroque or even orchestral (aside from the odd string/brass part), it's fairly contemporary. But it's as if Bach somehow clears/cleanses the air and 'lights the way'.

It's definitely a real thing, not a doubt about it. I like a lot of orchestral music, from Purcell to Ives, but Bach is like a magic key.
