In theory, it could go in the compost pile, but I would avoid this to not get a rash or ivy compounds in the pike.
I have an area of wood to clear in the back of our yard, what I do with it is mow very short and dump a lot of organic matter like grass clippings and leaves on top of it to obstruct the light.
