Threads has their blocklist public. "Defederated" means "blocked" in Fediverse terms because technically it can be worked around by moving to a different website.
I *think* they are suggesting that mastodon.social is doing okay because they were blocked by Threads, which Threads is seen as a bad place due to the things written above by Jerry. However, Mastodon.social (your instance) only appeared on their blocklist for about 30 minutes before they were removed. So, even if he didn't mean it that way, his point isn't really valid anymore because there's no block in place currently.
