This is rare in the developed world because we have Public Access Rights so it’s for free.
Being out hardens you up in the winter. We also have an open hut culture in the Nordics: you can stay for a night or two but these are remote and you have to have skills.
I don’t stay in hotels, luxury cabins or resorts because it’s consumerist and a waste of money.
