I’m taking care of her with love and as much grace as possible, but I’d be lying if I said she was a great mom. She wasn’t. I forgive her for being who she was as a parent, because that’s better for my life. But I haven’t forgotten the way she treated me. She was much nicer to my younger sister, who refused to take her in. My parents split when I was 16. My dad recently said, “I never thought you’d be the one to care for her.”
