my first FOSS project was a TUI Twitter client that got screwed as the API usage got more and more restrictive. it was very very niche but I remember people making YouTube videos about it, packaging it for their Linux distros and a person with visual impairment thanking me for creating an accesible client (Twitter web a11y was terrible at the time); it was incredibly rewarding and motivated me to build moar open source software. thank a FOSS maintainer today, they'll appreciate it 🫂
