Years ago (living in California) I used to buy a big box of fireworks around now then keep them until November 5th (when it’s dark earlier and has usually rained a few times) - we had some good Guy Fawkes parties. Rule was that one or both of each invited couple should be British, so we didn’t have to keep explaining stuff…
