I guess my only retort is that there's a certain level of necessary evil to using the internet under a global capitalist system most people will be comfortable with. We are lucky that Elon Musk did not purchase Cloudflare instead of Twitter (though, surely still a possibility in the future). Unfortunately, striving for the truly open internet you are committed to shuts you off from the millions of sites (and people) under the cf umbrella.
