I *think* you can still run FFS, but I think ZFS is worth learning, unless you have a very specific beef with it (I'd be curious to know).

Regarding linux compatibility, that's one heck of a moving target. Bless their hearts for having it at all, I'd say! XD

My only complaint with FreeBSD is that the system clock (`uptime`) freezes while the system is in suspend. I find that an odd design choice. That, and resume from S3 was pretty glacial (~30 seconds) on my X200.
