Invading Ukraine because it wanted to be a bit closer to the West is not acceptable, I think. The hope in Europe was always to maintain a good relationship with Russia. Germany - the largest country in Europe - bet a lot on that strategy. Hopefully, our thought was, NATO would become obsolete. Maybe Russia could join one day. Sadly, that did not happen.
