Yeah we don't see eye to eye here. We offer a way for merchants to get on board and start transacting instantly and freely with no KYC. Yes it's custodial but they have the option to withdraw to self-custody at any time. We even let them automate that by setting a balance threshold so if they reach more than $100 or whatever amount they choose it auto-withdraws to an on-chain bitcoin address they provide. So think of us as a batching service that scales bitcoin by allowing people to do thousands of transactions at no cost off the blockchain and only settle periodically to secure their bags.
Custodial lightning offers a super friendly way to get bitcoin into the hands of non-technical people without bombarding them with details about seed phrases, key management or channel liquidity considerations. Once they accumulate a meaningful amount they can go down the path of setting up cold storage and taking custody when it suits them.
