Still thinking about the (what I now regard as essential) role of emotions in decision making, intelligence & ultimately in reason and logic. Emotions are persistent states born of self referential processes. Even a bee or ant has such states these are a simple way to shade decisions with information from the past.
Ant emotions are probably simple like “panic” or “rest”— but, complex decisions can’t happen without them.
It’s more effective than mapping out all possible inputs/outputs.
