I feel like Nostr is splitting into the $6 pancake devs and the $50k pancake devs, but we're all just cooking up pancakes, and the whole thing is bizarre, and the users are confused because they assume the extra $49994 must mean something concrete.
But it actually doesn't. 🙃
The Nostr development market just has skewed price signals. Some of us have customers that can afford to pay $3 for a pancake, and not a penny more, so we build for $5, and try to push our costs below $3, so that we eventually turn a profit. Other people have customers who can afford to pay $50k for the same pancake, that also costs them $5 to make, so they pocket the $50k and then actually end up spending $60k making the pancake and whine about needing more funds. There's simply no incentive for them to try to cook the pancake for $3, so they just don't.
