I didn't say npubs should should have to pay to use it. There are other ways to onboard new users, while minimizing spam. Paying is just the simplest and it helps cover costs.

I'm just saying that it's important to remember that someone is paying for every relay because running a relay always carries costs, and that person owns the content of the relay. Calling some relays "public" of "free" makes it seem like that relay owner is obligated to let everyone just trash it, like it's a public park drunks use as a toilet.

Anytime they attempt to mitigate spam, everyone whines. Anytime they don't, everyone whines. 😅
