🧵 The American right is very different from conservative parties in other countries in that it never changes or adapts its policies to the public will.
The authoritarian right must rebrand also because it has no real philosophical or intellectual credibility now that science and history have totally destroyed religious fundamentalism's claims.
The leaders must lie about what they want & who they are. They can't win otherwise.
