I'm actually experimenting with tuning forks that I hold up to my ears. Using two different frequencies, one in each ear creates an acoustic version of that hemi-synch effect that the Monroe institute patented. It's pretty neat when that third note starts vibrating in your head, and it makes for really cool meditations.
