I'd never done the cost comparison since owning a car is a huge win if you either care about safety or value your time and don't want to spend time getting to a car share car, but it turns out the car share loses on cost as well.
Of course, cars can't maintain zero depreciation forever, but new car sales have still not caught up to pre-pandemic levels and car companies seem to have realized they can simply sell fewer cars at a higher price, so the depreciation curve has really changed.
