Thinking back on it, I wonder what the intended population-level benefit was of the two years I spent doing chemistry in high school. The biology and physics classes I can see the general education benefits of, but other than a couple of tidbits like understanding pH, I’m honestly not certain what all that time in chemistry class was for.
