TSA here, I Don’t Know If I’ll Have a Job in Six Months,
I’ve been a TSA officer for years, working to keep the traveling public safe. I’ve also been a union representative, fighting for fair treatment and better working conditions for my coworkers. But right now, I don’t know if I’ll even have a job six months from now.DHS Secretary Christy Noem just unilaterally canceled our collective bargaining agreement, stripping away our rights without any negotiation. On top of that, the mass firings happening across DHS, including at TSA, are only getting worse. Over 400 DHS employees have already been let go, more than 200 from TSA alone. There’s no transparency, no accountability; just sweeping workforce reductions that are leaving thousands of federal employees like me in a state of complete uncertainty.I don’t know what to do. If this continues, I may have no choice but to sell my home, cash out my TSP, and start over somewhere else. I’ve spent my career protecting this country and standing up for my colleagues, and now it feels like we’re being thrown away without a second thought.I never thought I’d be in a position where I’d have to worry about losing everything just because an unelected official decided to rip up a contract. But here I am, unsure if I should start packing or if I’ll even have a way to rebuild if they take everything from me.This isn’t just a job.. It’s my livelihood. It’s my future. And it’s terrifying to think it could all be gone in an instant.
