But I have a series where the main character is not a hero and there is no villain.
And I know of at least one other series by someone else where that's true.
One is historical the other is SF but what they have in common is that they are slice-of-life.
The words Hero and Villain have vastly more symbolic baggage attached to them. It makes them less versatile.
