I'm against runtime rendering from 3rd party dependencies, as I've met lots of sites with broken embeddings.
But, some structured copy-based embedding, maybe with something based on https://schema.org/ could do the job.
Whether Markdown/RST with metadata provided in JSON-LD, or limited HTML with metadata embedded in Microdata.
Though, separated quote and metadata would provide the flexibility of rendering (aligning authors, timestamps,...).
