In the context of the Crowdstrike incident you'll often hear the term EDR. That's essentially a different word for Antivirus software. My guess is it was invented because Antivirus was criticized more and more from Infosec people. So they needed a different term, so they could say "we're not selling an Antivirus, we're selling an EDR". But it's essentially the same thing. You're trying to identify bad software, which is a loosing battle, and comes with substantial risks.
