"content": "Austrian-born American actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr died #OTD in 2000.\n\nAt the beginning of World War II, along with George Antheil, Lamarr co-invented a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes that used spread spectrum \u0026 frequency hopping technology to defeat the threat of radio jamming by the Axis powers. However, the technology was not used in operational systems until after World War II, \u0026 then independently of their patent.\n\nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedy_Lamarr\n\n#science #technology #womeninStem\nhttps://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/113/854/612/967/660/271/original/d8b236fb3ce27168.jpg\nhttps://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/113/854/623/140/449/647/original/6dd72e54f0ce342d.png\n",
