However it never has been nor can ever be just a store of value. Anything that is of high value will also be a medium of exchange, otherwise its utility as a store of value diminishes. It's present upside potential drives it toward its function as a store of value OVER its function as a medium of exchange as a result of the natural human need to preserve wealth into the future. As the price stabilizes, and it must, its medium of exchange property will dominate and therefore its utility as a unit of account.
