I got rid of tabs entirely and use a searchable buffer as per vim-like web browsers (qutebrowser, tridactyl etc). You just press b and search for a tab by title.
You can also bookmark tabs and even sections of the page so you can quickly jump between several tabs on a single screen machine. It's awesome!
