I think I got a poor impression of Numenera at some point and didn't really bother to look again, which is silly.
I imagine this system is common enough. I started using it in D&D because I found the guidance in the DMG on setting DCs for social encounters to be a bit limp.
It also helps me with roleplaying, which is an area where I need as much help as I can get
