There are two major warring factions, and no dynastic leader to force a peace. There’s dispute over the ownership of the building which is more than a synagogue, almost a holy shrine to them.
The weird part is the tunnel looks nothing like an ad-hoc tunnel dug by unskilled weirdos. Something doesn’t add up.
