Let me be blunt here: losing several cities would be a soft landing.
What we're looking at is making the tropics mostly uninhabitable. Four billion people live there. We're looking at losing all ground within a few meters of sea level - another half billion or so. If the AMOC stops, Europe freezes, etc etc.
