I brought a cycling cap to Portland, and then realized it had a big hole on top. "Well-worn and worn well" as the cap maker told me. I tried to buy a new one as a souvenir, but couldn't find one that I liked.
Asked around at shops and got the vibe that employees of less-sporty shops viewed cycling caps as sporty. I was not looking for a sporty accessory.
