Just in case some of you have forgotten everything you learned in your philosophy classes:
The harm principle is a political and ethical principle that says people should be free to act as they wish as long as their actions do not harm others. The principle was proposed by John Stuart Mill, a liberal philosopher, in his book On Liberty. The principle implies that the state can only interfere with individual actions to prevent harm to others, and not to impose moral or social values.
