I love all of the creativity and playfulness of fandoms but have a long dark pretentious streak in my soul that finds getting too invested in anything popular, anything marketed, anything packaged for mass consumption, anything focused-grouped for "demographics" the way that most popular media inevitably is deeply... cringe*.
* And to be clear I also find the concept of anything being "cringe" kind of pointless. And I consider this feeling a bit of a character flaw. But also it's still there.
