I have noticed a "tell" for AI-generated text: a paragraph whose final sentence begins with "That said, ..."), followed by a statement that, despite the sentence structure, does not contradict the previous statements.
As we drown in AI-generated text, I suspect that this kind of meaning mangling will become normalized and adopted in the general population (which doesn't care about language & thus doesn't pay attention).
The prospect of The Great Dumbing Down before us hurts my heart.
