Occasionally I see young people asking "What was it like being gay during the 1980s AIDS epidemic?" and I can't even with an answer, maybe they don't understand how traumatic it was and how hard it is to talk about.
Now I wonder if there's a good book. Not a memoir written in the moment but something written recently, with hindsight and historical perspective.
