my Christian friend wants to know why it's so easy to get ChatGPT to tell jokes about Jesus, but so hard to get it to tell jokes about Mohammed.

it will typically say it can't make jokes about "religious figures" but only if it's about Mohammad. the next moment, it will crack a joke about Jesus or Buddha just fine, and if you point out the mistake, it will do its usual diplomatic move of apologising for its mistake.

i told my friend it's as hard for them to make ChatGPT consistent as it is for diplomats to be honest with everyone.

naturally, it avoids jokes about Mohammad because muslims are more sensitive about it. naturally, that's the reason. most ordinary people try to keep the peace, even if they disagree. ChatGPT does what you expect.

consistency is not what you expect from human beings.
