GM #Nostr. Here is something I like to remind myself of every now and again.
When #thinking about our lives we all tend to take what's #positive for granted, and focus on what's #negative. This is #natural as #evolutionarily you're much more likely to #survive if you only #focus on the #threats to your well being rather than what's benefitting you. We are just another member of the #AnimalKingdom after all, and our distant #ancestors had to #evolve traits that helped them to survive their #harsh #environments.
But in #modern times this evolutionary #trait has itself become more of a #threat to our lives via it's #detrimental effect on our #MentalHealth. And, rather than combatting it, #society generally uses this trait to gain attention and make #money through the constant stream of #negativity in the news, and #algorithms that give us the most #engaging #information (which is virtually guaranteed to be negative).
Yet as the #reality grows that threats become more #distant, and benefits become more #personal, it's important to remember to reset this way of thinking with #acknowledgements of what is going *well* with our lives.
In #2024 we are roughly 2 centuries into the #IndustrialRevolution which brought incredible #productivity gains to society. Most of these gains have been co-opted by the elite through various methods, largely to the disadvantage of those living in the 3rd world rather than the 1st.
But as these advancements are so significant, even when the system is corruptly siphoning our collective energy to the elite, we all still benefit greatly. Albeit at different levels depending on what part of the world you're living in.
Over the last 200 years the average person's #QualityOfLife has improved drastically everywhere.
We don't often think about how much better our lives are today than they were in the past, but they really are. In that time we've seen tremendous advancements in:
#Communications
(#telegraph, #telephone, #radio, #television, the #Internet, #mobile devices),
Food preservation and storage techniques (#canning, #refrigeration (which includes #freezers), freeze drying, and more.),
#Transportation
(#trains, #bicycles, #automobiles, #airplanes, #helicopters.),
Home cook assistants
(#Blenders, #FoodProcessors, MixingMachines, #Ovens, #PressureCookers, #RiceCookers, #BreadMachines, #SousVide, etc.),
Cleaning assistants
(#Dishwashers, #laundry washing and drying machines, #vacuums, etc.)
Home comfort improvements
(Interior #lighting, #CentralHeating and #AirConditioning, low cost #flooring whether #carpet or otherwise, etc.)
#Entertainment (for better or worse)
(Prepared outdoor #trails for #hiking and #biking, #Movies, #TV shows, #VideoGames, #SocialMedia, #TableTopGames, recorded #music,ass produced #books both physical and electronic, and more!).
It truly has never been a better time to be a part of the #HumanExperience.
The #FIAT system benefits from you focusing on the negative, telling you what you have isn't enough and that you always need more. Which you must get into #debt to pay for.
At what point do you ever have enough? The architects of the FIAT system and Keynesian economists want you to believe you never can.
But we already live in a future our ancestors could only #dream of, this is the closest to #paradise humanity has ever been. But #progress never stops, so every day is better than the last at an ever accelerating rate.
#Truth and #goodness will win this fight. Humanity cannot be suppressed forever.
Find out how to give back to yourself as much time you can, as that is the ultimate resource that we each have. Even if that means just sitting and doing nothing but thinking. Being alone with your own thoughts is what truly frees you, because it allows you to actually think about what matters to you and what you want to do with the rest of the fleeting time you have left in this life.
Life is short, make the most of it. 🖖
