The normal contact list (I assume you mean kind 3) is too mixed or random.
Listr.lol doesn’t work? I’m on Safari so nothing web nostr ever works for me so I can’t tell.
Looking at the demo I think it needs a more friendly “Discover” frontend focused on social media so you could really discover who is using nostr (the people), I’d like to see more of Artists or Musicians lists, and less of Bookmarks or Relay Metadata lists.
I guess listr is more of a generic list management backend, which is also very much needed, is @npub1zuu…c2uc still working on it?
I’m trying to add this in Nostur and hope more apps add something similar to improve discovery:

No these settings are local to Nostur, only the Announce… settings are also for others but you don’t have to change those.
Btw I just checked Haven readme I’m not sure it actually downloads all the data for you, so maybe don’t disable ⬇️ (my previous reply). I thought it worked as an aggregator similar as filter.nostr.wine but doesn’t seem like it.

To determine if someone is your follower you need to ask a relay for that persons follow list and check if you are on it. Maybe the relay doesn’t have the list, so you need to ask a different relay. So if you ask different relays you can get different answers depending how well that persons follow list has spread across relays.
Also I could follow you with my account and most apps would count it as a real follow, but if I create 10 fake accounts and follow you on those a good app would filter those out.

Could you give this below a try? I think a few special purpose relays are giving trouble. The utxo news will still work when configured as a relay feed even though it appears disabled. The looking glass might be confused for search but means look up id here if can’t be found on ⬇️

It may seem that way but only in the sense that people have a choice. For me there is no point to compete with Damus, my goal is to get more people to use nostr. This is also the reason why in the early days I posted a lot less than I could on nostr to try to get people to use my app, why would I? The only other iOS nostr users were Damus, and they were already using nostr.
So no, Nostur doesn’t compete with Damus, it competes with centralized social media.
Not sure what you meant with the rest but you can use all my code (GPL license) and I’d gladly help anyone sharing the same goal.

I think the last legs down can be easily explained by X doing well on free speech so people feel less need for alternatives, but we all know it still has the same centralized problems, so just a matter of time before something happens and this repeats over and over again.
Also my app is still kind of obscure. Primal, Amethyst or Damus probably have more accurate stats closer to the whole network.

You can put a different receiving address on each profile (Edit profile)
For sending you can use the same wallet/NWC connection. Only the wallet could potentially know the zaps are from the same user but the public receipts will show a different “From”.

Nostur "Push" notifications work a bit different from regular Push notifications, it runs on your phone and periodically checks in the background if there are any new things to notify about.
Normal iOS Push notifications requires another service to run somewhere else to check for you and then push a notification to your phone.
The background method Nostur uses is a bit of a hack, it uses something called “App Refresh” that is normally used to make apps appear fast by fetching stuff before you have even opened the app. To save battery your phone learns how often and when you use each app and tries to refresh apps in the background efficiently, Nostur hooks into this to check for notifications.
Practically this means Nostur notifications could be a bit delayed, especially if you almost never open the app, but as a daily driver they work well.
