Thanks antirez. I'm going to share this whenever anyone scoffs at me and says "`cat` performance doesn't matter". This stuff matters, it has real productivity implications. I smiled at this because we worked hard on this and I'm glad someone I respect so much noticed.

What started out a couple years ago as about ~10 IRL friends led to a community of 4,700 active beta testers. I just turned off beta invites in the Ghostty discord. The beta period is officially over; they provided invaluable feedback and contributions ❤️ Getting close now.

New Ghostty icon! Retains the spirit of the original while adding a more distinctive look with differing level of detail based on icon size (i.e. the large form attached has texture on the aluminum, visible scanlines, etc.). More details in the PR screenshot. ❤️👻

GTK getting a bunch of improvements for Ghostty. We now fully use Adwaita widgets (if available). Adwaita tabs, tab overview, header, and about window demoed below. Mostly the work of awesome contributors. Note: ignore the missing icon for "new tab", that's something borked about my NixOS installation.

More and more apps are single-window and not documented based and that upsets me. I've noticed this more with Electron but not confident enough to single them out. Example: I want to view multiple channels at once in Discord. Please, make your apps support multiple windows!

Been optimizing memory usage and cache friendliness in Ghostty. Here is a preview of the results. 🫨 The high level how: carefully controlling memory layout, custom allocators, page aligned chunks. The low level details in the next devlog in a few weeks. ☺️

Ghostty beta is now up to ~600 people. It's starting to feel really, really solid. I've got some big ticket items I still want to finish before a public release but it's really exciting to do big invite waves, get zero bug reports, and see feedback like the following. ❤️

We found a Vim bug! Plus some naughty programs that do naughty things or why we need "xterm" in our TERM env var. A background on terminfo and XTGETTCAP. Variable font support. Pretty GUIs on both macOS and Linux.
