I want to set up three identical Ubuntu 24.04 virtual machines:
- one for the control plane and
- two serving as worker nodes.
Each of these VMs comes with its own static IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, and ensuring that IP packet forwarding is activated for both protocols.
In the Kubernetes cluster, the essential components:
- the control plane, which includes the API server, scheduler, controller manager, and
- etcd, and the worker nodes featuring kubelet, container runtime, and pods, all tailored for running containerized workloads.
The goal is using Containerd as my go-to container runtime, and making a little configuration adjustment (systemd cgroup=true) to keep the cgroup driver usage nice and consistent between kubelet and Containerd.
This helps with smoother resource management. As for the Kubernetes tools,I'm looking at installing kubelet, kubeadm (to bootstrap our cluster), and kubectl, which serves as our command-line interface.
