But we saw the benefits and implemented them in 2019.
An XPUB gives you better privacy and security. By using it, each deposit goes to a new address. That makes it harder for others to find out how much Bitcoin you own.
Today we even refuse to accept XPUBs that have already been used for other transactions since this would compromise your privacy.

"Bitcoin is absolute scarcity." Sounds common, right? But why should you care? It’s one of those things Bitcoiners say without really diving in. So let’s unpack it. What happens when something is scarce?
Scarce resources create competition and make people want them even more. In a free market, this competition is what drives prices up. If demand is high and supply is low, prices rise. That’s the market’s way of saying, “Hey, we need more of this. If you can get it, you can make money!” It’s a balancing act. And with commodities, it works, because the incentive is to produce more of the good.

But what about money? Usually, something is chosen as money because it’s easy to trade (liquidity). But what if the supply wasn’t limited? Well, then anyone could just print more, and boom—everyone's hard-earned cash is worth less because the prices of goods and services rise due to the changed money supply. Not cool, right? Scarcity in money ensures that money stays reliable and keeps its value. Due to productivity increases and increasing demand for the money, a scarce money can even buy you more in the future.

So, why is Bitcoin such a big deal? Bitcoin is the invention of digital scarcity. Nothing like it before. Even gold, which is known for being rare, still increases by about 2% a year. But Bitcoin? Its supply is fixed, forever. When you price things in Bitcoin, every tech innovation actually makes stuff cheaper because Bitcoin’s supply doesn’t change.

Now, about the "monetary premium." When money loses its scarcity, it stops being a good store of value. Imagine if everyone had a magic money printer—it wouldn’t be worth much. Monetary goods usually have a higher purchasing power than their use-value alone. That’s the monetary premium. Silver, for instance, is in high demand industrially, so its premium isn’t huge. Gold has a bigger premium. But Bitcoin? It’s got the highest premium because it wasn’t made to be used, it was made to be money.

I wanted to share my journey with Bittr - the platform I built to make Bitcoin saving easy across Europe.
How it started:
Bittr began as a university project in 2017, focused on what I believed to be the only real use of blockchain technology: Bitcoin, a decentralized form of money. My vision was simple: allow everyone in Europe to save in Bitcoin easily by sending money via bank transfer and receiving Bitcoin directly in their wallet. By March 2018, Bittr was more than an idea – it was a living, breathing platform 🎉.
From day one, Bittr stood on three principles:
1. User control over funds – No access to user funds, reflecting Bitcoin’s promise of financial sovereignty.
2. Ease of use – No complicated KYC processes, making Bitcoin accessible to all.
3. Bitcoin-only focus – I believed in Bitcoin, even if it meant turning down potential profits.
Hitting a wall with EU regulation:
Things changed with the introduction of the EU's AMLD5 regulations, requiring strict KYC checks. This went against Bittr’s core values, and the tightening regulations forced me to make a tough decision. In March 2020, rather than compromise my principles, I shut down Bittr. It was a heartbreaking moment 😢.
Restarting in Switzerland 🇨🇭:
A year later, Bittr found a new home in Switzerland, where the regulations aligned better with our values. Since then, we’ve revamped our platform and are excited about what’s coming in 2024! From launching a Bitcoin app with a built-in Lightning Node to introducing our Bittr Boosters affiliate program, the future looks bright. We’re also adding more educational content for those new to Bitcoin.
Getting Bittr to this point hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. I hope to continue growing a community that values Bitcoin’s fundamental ethos, not just the financial benefits.

The current mining fee for batched transactions is just around 160 Sats.
Fixed payout fees, such as 1000 Sats per transaction, are -besides spreads in the bitcoin price- the most common tricks of exchanges to fool you into a worse deal.
Don't fall for it.
