After 3 long months of negotiating with stubborn iOS App Store reviewers, WoS v2.3.7 is now LIVE on iOS App Stores!
Finally, iOS users will also see the new branding and a host of other features and bug fixes. 🥳🥂
Side note: It does feel like something has noticeably changed at Apple when it comes to Bitcoin-related Apps.

Many have noticed a sharp increase in paid Lightning spam lately.
Opinion is divided - some love the free sats, some hate the constant notifications and spammy messages. In any case it's an interesting development in the ecosystem! ⚡️
We have just implemented a change on our server to detect payments that are likely spam. You'll still get the sats and can look at the messages in your payment history if you want, but this should help minimise unwanted system notifications starting now! 🙏

We're doing a couple of things - but hiding messages below 100 sats might be a little overkill... we don't want to prevent any valid use-cases.
We've just rolled out a change though so that at least you won't get system notifications for payments that are low value and likely advertising - that seems to be the biggest annoyance at the moment.

Nothing to fear - just moving to a different Apple Developer Account, Apple review process is being anal. The moving process is not great (isn't this the biggest company in the world?) so all TestFlight users get dropped.

Creating an account on a website is a lot easier than installing and learning to use software, and a more familiar way of doing it for most people. The only disadvantage is that you have to trust the site, but that's fine for pocket change amounts for micropayments and misc expenses. It's an easy way to get started and if you get larger amounts then you can upgrade to the actual bitcoin software.

It's important not to forget who our real enemy is here:
Central banking!
Central banking and the fiat money it creates are one of the most insidious, destructive and negative forces in the world.
Monetary self-sovereignty with bitcoin is awesome! We love the whole range of lightning wallets that are being developed, and the amazing cold storage systems we have now. We use them ourselves. But custodians will *always* be necessary and are useful for many - especially for small payments.
The fact that Bitcoin (and the Lightning Network) allows both self-sovereign users, businesses and custodial providers to interact directly on the same hard monetary protocol is an amazing thing: true financial freedom.

LNURL is a coordination protocol that runs on the web - it's not built in to the Lightning Network.
That means it requires some additional web infrastructure on top of the lightning node infrastructure to coordinate the requesting of invoices between servers.
It's not ideal, but it works pretty well in practice - it just means there is some extra stuff to run. A non-custodial wallet could probably do it, but there would be some trust involved (whoever is running the web server).

Best way to contact us is always by email at support@walletofsatoshi.com - we've got a great full responsive support team there, have always tried to have the best support in the business.
We've recently migrated to "bc1" style addresses, which is a new set of wallets and bitcoin nodes and I suspect some of the slowness is related to getting that tuned correctly - it seems like a few transactions have been missed recently. Will raise it with the devs.

An explanation FWIW….With the huge amount of on-chain deposits we process every day, a tiny percentage (way less than 1%) can sometimes have an issue automatically crediting for various reasons. Our helpful customer service team fixes them up as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours.
We have just made some technical tweaks to reduce the chance of this rare occurrence even further. ⚡️ 🙏🏻
