I’m in agreement with good ol Ickey boi. Ian Carrol came out of nowhere and was pushed heavily by the algo’s. His last stunt was to suggest using Nostr. Suspiciously I joined to suss it out. Only to find out that Nostr is a walled garden where the main relays/mobile apps actively censor the users. Nostr effectively has no competitive edge over the mainstream social media networks as they solicit the same practices they pretend to oppose. Just like my profile says “I’m just passing through”. If anyone one wants the electric rubbish coin I have accumulated I’d be happy to send it to you before I leave. I have no need or use for it. There are far better censorship alternatives out there to stay connected socially. I’ll leave this CIA/MOSAD operation called Nostr in about a day. Then their advertising is disingenuous. I have no problems with app devs stating that they actively filter users (use what ever BS marketing terms they like) but to state they are a 100% what you see is what you get Nostr Client is very deceitful. Will the devs place a disclaimer on their prospective apps/web clients? I think not. Perhaps give the users a choice with a toggle switch stating pure Nostr mode and Facebook Dev fantasy land mode would be an option.

So users have the ability to block and filter people themselves. But app devs and servers make that decision for people…. How is this different to the clear net again? The marketing strategy is free speech, yet free speech is taken away if the speech isn’t kosher. I think I’ve seen all I need to see here. Good luck with the user growth. I believe humanity as a whole has forgotten how important a strong community is. Over time we have been sold the lie that progression is more important. The powers that be have worked very hard to destroy the family unit and taught people to work and strive as individuals, instead of striving towards a common agreed upon goal. Money is just the catalyst for power to inflict a will over a society and steer it towards an individual goal. Money and crypto are valueless compared to physical assets such as good food and clean water (a diminishing commodity this day and age). I cucked out with Linux, kind of. I roll with Mac these days. I've got a little Ryzen box in the lounge room with Arch on it to stream music etc. I figure MOSAD/CIA can get into anything these day. So what are the non social credit score apps? Perhaps Damius or Nostur speaking about phone apps of course? I generally use a wide range, forever swapping and changing. I have not settled on one, same with a desktop client. Half the apps haven’t even implemented the new encryption layer for private messaging. I’d Imagine compromises had to be made for the devs to upload their apps to the Google Play Store and Apple Store for user safety compliance of course.

Your missing my point. A monopoly has already formed. While it may give you savings in the short term, a power structure already has its tentacles wrapped around it, ready to control society as it alway has. If Bitcoin was to become a social norm for societal spending over fiat currency, nothing would have changed. People, as a whole, are sheeple. It’s allot better than Primal which was my introduction to to Nostr after setting myself up via a web browser. I had to download Firefox because Nostr relays didn’t like the Brave browser, even with the shields down 🤷‍♂️😂I am always hesitant using Safari. App wise, YakiHonne (weird name for my Australian 👅) seems to be awesome. I heard Damius has a built in store for people to sell their wares? That’s pretty cool. I may check that out later on if true.

I’m a freedom advocate. I don’t want to be ruled over by anyone. I’m very approachable and love to have philosophical discussion (I’m not a fan of small talk). After the past couple of years I have been my 100% authentic self because being me is all I can be. I don’t want to fit in with mental case society anymore. Pretty good. I’m still learning Nostr but I’m getting there. I’ve worked out it doesn’t work on Brave browser, for some reason the relays don’t work, so I downloaded Firefox. I’ve found out about the OX messenger. Once I’m all savvy on everything I’ll see if my friends and family want to migrate over for more secure messaging. It’s always a battle to get people to use new platforms. I’ll probably make a video on Nostr from a freedom advocates prospective as apposed to being crypto-centric which seems to be the main focus on streaming platforms.

I don’t trust Telegram. The other day it accessed my camera and microphone for no particular reason while running in the background on my IPhone. I have revoked its access and I’m considering taking it off my phone altogether. I use it for a small group of friends who like to send voice messages as apposed to text. If Nostr could do the voice messaging they’d migrate over. People get stuck in their ways and don’t like change unfortunately.

I wasn’t expecting anything. I’m just happy to be heard again. I’ll be helping an older friend get on Nostr over the weekend. I’m really hoping mass adaptation to the network occurs. I also hope AI and bot raiding doesn’t occur, the powers that be are pretty pathetic when it comes to those types of shenanigans.

My little mate Blue the frog-dog (French bulldog). He’s cross eyed but I love him more than he’ll ever know, he knows 🤷‍♂️😂. He brightens up my day and keeps everyone in my family smiling with his antics. My other dog Turbo is a very dear friend of mine. Turbo is a shar-pei cross English staffy. I fondly call him Red ranger. Turbo is older but he most certainly has been there for me when I needed a mate through tough times. I couldn’t imagine a life without companion animals.

So Wavlake appears to be geared towards smart phone use only. I often listen to music at my Mac with a DAC Amp and headphones while I type some things out and catch up on the socials/chat to friends. The only app I could find for Mac seems to be for IOS and Ipad only. I downloaded the Ipad version but all the control buttons seem to be chopped off which limits my ability to like songs, skip etc. No biggie, I prefer to use the browser anyway. I wasn't expecting the Ipad verson to work well on a Mac, Ipad apps on a Mac are hit and miss. I logged in no problem via the browser. But when I attempt to like a song or make a comment it tells me I need to log in to do so, despite being logged in. This occurred on Firefox and Brave browser (I don't use Safari) The only other option I can see for Mac use is to become a beta tester which is less than Ideal. I'll keep the app on the phone but it wont get much use being on there. I had fun with it being on my phone listening to independent artists but without proper Nostr login support via a web browser it's a bit of a bummer (liking, commenting creating playlists etc). I don't want to poo poo Wavlake but cross platform compatibility is important to me. It runs well on Linux which I have plugged into my home HIFI, I can't comment on Windoze compatibility as I will never run Billy Gate's OS.

I’m not a musician, I record nature (field recordings). Stuff like rain on an old tin roof with thunder rumbling in the background to sleep to or meditate to.

Thanks for the offer. Honestly, I'd just spin up a light weight Linux distro like Arch and then look into what the best open-sourced packages are out there for hosting videos specifically for Nostr. Once decided on I'd follow their wiki for the install and then dedicate the space and ram for it to work at it's best capacity. It's certainly a project I'd love to do in the future. I busted my back at work and my employer sacked me, I could have filed for unfair dismissal but honestly who would want to work for an employer like that anyway? I'm mended now, looking for work. Once I'm back on my feet employment wise it's certainly a project I'd love to do and host for my self as I'd physically hold my own data/videos etc. Once I work out how and what to do I'd love to help you. Us humans have to stick together and look after each other after all.

What is the preferred video streaming service for Nostra users? I can’t afford to host my own server yet. I generally upload to YouTube, Rumble and Bitchite (free hosting) or does it not really matter? Are there more freedom orientated ones or blockchain based ones out there? Out of the three I use I prefer Bitchite as there is minimal censorship.

I’m not a rich man by any means. I use the Zoom F6. I attach a portable 40,000 mah battery to it via the USB C port and I have power for days. I generally go out into the bush, find a great sound scape, set it up and camo it up a bit to avoid thieves. I’ll camp 500 meters away. For cities and towns I’ll stay with my equipment and record for a couple of hours. Well I did before CONVID hit, my hobby went to the side when I was focusing on freedom for my family. I’ve only just started doing it again because I forgot to live my life and just remembered to do so.

Yeah cool, will do. I like to do field recordings in nature and urban environments. I love sound scapes, especially ones I can get lost in.
