I have a whole house sediment, carbon filter, and UV setup. Additionally, drinking water goes through an extensive RO system. Water comes out clean and empty. I remineralize it with ionic minerals before consumption.
I keep 50 gallons of potable water on hand using portable jerry cans (wavian) which I've sanitized with a chlorine dioxide solution (purogene) activated with citric acid crystals. Will keep 5-7 years.
Under the sink in each bathtub-having bathroom I have a couple water bobs that can be used in an emergency to expand on-hand water to 200 gallons.
I have a small packable dolly that I can use to aquire 10 gallons of creek/stream/pond/lake water. With a filter pump (roamfilter plus 2) I can pump water out of the source and into the jerry cans.
I also have a large water barrel that I can set outside to collect rainwater.
All the water, regardless of source (potable, outside aquired) gets ran through a multistage Berkey with arsenic/flouride filters.
Everybody's situation is different. With my place A, I'm not setup for water sovereignty, so my layers of contingencies are fairly deep. I've learned alot, and to appreciate safe/hot water.
