Learning on the parts for which I have no spares is the smart play. I believe this can be easier if I get the right bits like a person with a functioning brain would do.
Anyway, I think all I am doing is disabling these rods so the cartridge emulators can take over, and none of this has to be very good as long as it's not causing the oil to foam up.
1/6 completed so far. In the end there will be six holes in each, and then I'm throwing everything back together so I can check something off the list before my head caves in.RT:

lmao I am elbows deep in rebuilding the fork when I get to the part of the instructions telling me to drill more fluid passages in the damping rods, and chamfer it all so it's nicey-nice.
