Let me see if I have this right:
- People are already making huge transactions
- Since there's a limit on OP_RETURN, they're stuffing them all over the place
- Either way they're paying for the vbytes
- Blocks will have the same size regardless of what's in them
- The limit on OP_RETURN increases complexity
- This is a effectively a tax on high-data transactions
It seems to me that the decision is between artificially keeping fees low, and rewarding miners. Given the importance of a healthy mining ecosystem, shouldn't we favor free market vbytes?
