The force fired on Hamas police officers who were approaching the area, killing one and wounding two others. According to the Israeli military, the force did not fire on additional ambulances that were passing by, but later, around 6:00 PM, the force fired on a group of people who were getting out of the ambulances, believing them to be Hamas militants. The investigation has found that there was no intentional targeting of the paramedics and that the shooting was carried out from a distance."
