Yesterday I started building a deep bed for my next attempt at growing sweet potatoes. Filling it with twigs, leaves and kitchen scraps. My friend has promised me the waste from her chickens next time she cleans them out. Will top it with a layer of compost and build a frame cover. Starting the slips soon, using my tuber in a bag of compost in the airing cupboard. Will plant some early leaf stuff and onion sets to utilize the space while the slips are filling out.
