I will tell you from experience, I also found it imposible to achieve until my heart begun to do some weird stuff, like accelerating for no reason over 120 bps (doing absolutely nothing), until I had to go to ER in fear of a heart failure... but that wasn't enough, I kept smoking anyway, made a few changes, tried to smoke less and be more active and then, an aggressive arrhythmia strikes followed by strong palpitations and high heart rates again, I could feel my heart clearly skipping beats, which is not a bad thing itself, according to my doc, but people wouldn't normally notice those skips... that was a horrible and frightening experience... and then, in that frightened state I took all my cigs and threw them in the trash bin and called for help, got my self another trip to ER and the doc told me I must quit smoking and start a healthy way of living, to begin repairing all damage done by decades of unhealthy habits, or else, next time I could be visiting the morgue instead...
so... sometimes all it takes is a good scare to take action, I learned my lesson and today I'm about 2 years+ smoke free... It's hard, won't tell you it's not, but you MUST go through it... after a few months, it will be nothing more than a bad memory and you won't even miss those nasty sticks, I promise!
find some healthy hobbies, that helps a lot, to keep your mind busy... a busy mind don't miss anything 😉
