Nearby is Böblingen which reminds me of the Böblingen Building Blocks: reusable (PL/X) code components developed internally by IBM.
In those days, reusable software libraries were relatively rare, except for fairly basic language runtime libraries. It's hard to imagine that we used to ask ourselves "Is reusable software even feasible?".
