If the DOJ did decide to scale back their investigation, wouldn't that be bad? I feel like it would be better one way or another to have a decision on indictment before the conventions next year. Even if Smith recommends against charges, I still feel like it's better to have that decision before a hypothetical Trump win (*shudder*) so that there's no ongoing investigation for him to bury.
