My mom kept all my lego. Actual exchange with my wife, though, about five years before we had our first kid:
me: your sister says the nephews are old enough to get lego now! I’m so excited to give them lego!
her: that’s so sweet that you’re going to give them your old lego
me: oh hell no, I love the nephews but those old lego are for our future kid. The nephews are getting new stuff.
